🚩Map Location
🚩 Temple Gate
Ancient and elegant in architecture, it is one of the main features in the campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The public photos are taken here.
🚩 Old Library
Constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, the Old Library hosts the University History Museum, which is, unfortunately, closed at this moment. It receives a significant amount of attention from both visitors and passersby, as many of them like to take photos at its entrance because of the unique Victorian-style structure.
🚩 Centennial Celebration Monument
Situated in the center of the main lawn of Xuhui Campus, this monument was built in 1996 to celebrate the centenary of the university. The words “To Carry Forward the Past, Forge Ahead into the Future and Make it the World Class” were inscribed by Jiang Zemin, an alumnus and then Chairman of the Central Committee.
🚩 Zhixin West Dormitory
Construction of this dormitory dates back to 1929 and remains the same in its original styling. The house was named after Zhu Zhixin, who was a martyr of the revolution and a loyal follower of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
🚩 Drink from the Source Monument
Together with other similar monuments on university campuses, this statue has become one of the common symbols for all five Jiao Tong Universities across the Taiwan Strait. Similarly inscribed with words—”Drink from the Source”—the same as all other universities, for saying, to symbolize that the university appreciates its origin and commits to remembering history.
🚩 Dong Haoyun Maritime Museum
This is a professional museum that represents the maritime achievements of Mr. Dong Haoyun and the success of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in the maritime study field. There are two floors of exhibitions, and if time allows, the visit can take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
🚩 Library of Qian Xuesen
This library holds several invaluable collections, though unfortunately it was closed on the day we had to visit it.
📌 Tips
Pass through the Temple Gate onto campus. To the right and facing the Old Library is a cultural and creative store selling souvenirs that can include T-shirts, hats, fridge magnets, and badges.
There are two canteens on campus. The meal card is required for the first floor of the Second Canteen, and the mobile payment is available at the Western restaurant.
