Shendacheng was established in the first year of the Guangxu era (1875) and has a history of 148 years. Recognized by the Ministry of Commerce as a “China Time-honored Brand,” it is hailed as the “King of Shanghai Pastries.”
The founder, Shen A-Jin, named the shop to reflect its mastery of pastries and local snacks. Due to its meticulous selection of ingredients and fine craftsmanship, Shendacheng gained international fame as early as the 1930s. Classic products like Osmanthus Cake, Double-Stuffed Dumplings, Golden Rice Balls, Green Dumplings, Longevity Peaches, and Fresh Meat Mooncakes are highly praised.
To further establish itself as a Shanghai icon and allow more consumers to taste its artisanal flavors, Shendacheng invested in a food factory in 2003, focusing on the production of cakes, frozen pastries, and Shanghai-style gifts. Adhering to the Chinese philosophy of “eating according to the season,” Shendacheng releases seasonal gift boxes. For instance, the Qingming Green Dumpling Gift Box represents the beauty of spring, while the Double Ninth Festival Gift Box adds a sweet touch to the tradition of honoring the elderly.
For every major seasonal festival—Qingming, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Spring Festival—Shendacheng offers fresh, authentic flavors, bringing elegance and pleasure to everyday life.
